Nick Alan Royal Seal Pin

Since the late nineties Nick Alan has been crafting a style and aesthetic all his own, centered on a modern appeal, classic lines and a clean tailored fit. A self-trained artist, Nick Alan single-handedly designs his line, having no schooling, just the gift of design, patience and an eye for detail passed down through generations. In the past decade he has fine-tuned his ideas and techniques by listening to his inner thought process, making him a more self-aware artist. Nick Alan is very careful not to study current trends or other designers, so that his intentions and ideas are solely his. He designs for the sheer joy of creating, exploring his thoughts and dreams while designing clothing and jewelry that make his clients feel comfortable and attractive. Through this website, it is Nick Alan's dream to share his style and ideas on a much broader scale. All of the items available on nickalan.com are made in the USA. Nick Alan does not employ or condone "slave labor". This makes his work ethics admirable, but his overhead much higher than mass-manufacturers that do use unethical means of supply. Good design, hand-to-eye quality and individuality merit a higher cost. All of Nick Alan's products come with the security of knowing that no wrongful means of manufacturing have been employed by Nick Alan or his affiliates.

Alexander McQueen PUMA: Book of Five Rings 2010

Directed by Supernature, the movie was conceived as a series of vignettes, each inspired by the principles outlined in ‘The Book Of Five Rings’, a famed 17th-century text by the samurai Miyamoto Musashi. In this book, Musashi outlines his philosophy pertaining to his mastery of the martial arts, and how the discipline can be cultivated to achieve success in all areas of life.

In these movies, generative computer animation is used to express an abstract concept of the body and its motion in space and time. 3D motion capture data of martial arts choreography was used to generate a variety of effects and animation, suggesting the presence of a body in motion without literally depicting one.

Book of Five Rings was conceived within the online creative Contest Raw Power coordinated by SHOWstudio in collaboration with Alexander McQueen PUMA. Young Artists and Filmakers were invited to create and post online a movie reinterpreting various raw footage taken from the shooting of Crane vs Tiger an iconic Alexander McQueen PUMA image created by photographer Nick Knight and Alexander McQueen. Supernature was the winner of the contest and was given the opportunity to create the 2010 sport-fashion movie for Alexander McQueen PUMA Book of Five Rings

Each chapter of the book expresses a different area of philosophy and empahsizes harmony between mind, the body, and the rhythms of action. In particular, there is an emphasis on what Musashi calls “the rhythm of the abstract”.Fashion is an abstraction of the body, and that fashion represents a type of ordering (or disciplining) of the body, similar to the disciplines of martial arts.

10 Questions : Darrell Walden Jr.

Photo: Richard Pier Petit

1.   Who is your favorite male model?

My Favorite male models would have to
be Tyrone Lee, Marcus Schenkenberg, and David Gandy. Who inspires you? My
inspiration and motivation comes from my family (Including my mother, my
Nana, & Father and most importantly myself, without their input, tough love
and support I definitely would of been on a negative path.

2.    What is your favorite must have fashion item?

I would have to say my must fashionable item would have to be my John
Varvatos messenger bag/'man bag".

3.    What do you wear on go sees?

Every go see is different but I like to try and keep it simple, fitting, &
classy. I want my first impression on a "GOSEE" is for them to notice how
slim, tall, and in shape I'm in. So I try to wear fitted cloths, Slim fitted
jeans, a nice fitted button down (or fitted V-neck T-shirt). You will never
catch me without accessories around my neck or wrist.

4.    What’s your favorite gadget?

My favorite gadget is my blackberry aka "man berry" because it gives me
access to my internet (emails), i can listen to all my favorite tunes, and
easy access to sports updates.

5.    What’s your Favorite restaurant?

be honest with you ... I'm not a big
restaurant person. I'm a very southern person, I like home cooked meals. But
I just got into Thai food (very picky eater)
my favorite restaurant

6.    Favorite Grooming product?

Don’t laugh but my favorite grooming products are MAC's facial cream and
exfoliate because my skin is super sensitive and it moisturizes my face
with out it feeling oily and the exfoliate helps my complexion and skin
looking clear. =)

7. Favorite music that gets you hype before a runway show?

Not to sound like an alcoholic but to be honest, but a nice chilled glass
of champagne does the job. But if I had to chose music only. I would say
instrumental house music.

8. Favorite global destination to relax?
Favorite global location to relax would have to be in the country, Hampton
Virginia. My family and I go back down there for family reunions and get
together. For some reason it brings me back to reality and makes me
appreciate New York and all the advantages we have as a New Yorkers.

9. Do you follow daily fitness program?
I'm not a big fitness person but i like to stay active in sports activities
which help me stay in shape. I do hit the gym when I need to though.(
depending on upcoming jobs or castings.)

10. What are your plans for the future after modeling?

Modeling will always be a part of my future plans, but hopefully it will
help open the doors for me financially and eventually allow me to open up
my own chain of sports bars.

P.s. Big shout out to my boy David A., congratulations for the Calvin Klein
collection and for opening up the door for the rest.

Thanks for the interview LL, I appreciate it!

Designer Files : Cat Davison

www.catdavison.com

Cat Davison Jewellery started in 2004, when I finally had the initiative to make a bit of money out of something I've been doing for years. My jewellery is about exuberance, playful self-expression and ultimately - having fun! It has to be bold, colourful and, most importantly, BIG.

I've worked with silver, resin, felt, ribbon, buttons, toy food, fridge magnets, curtain tassels, guitar picks and anything else I am able to get my hands on and my creations have been featured in a number of international fashion magazines and trendspotting websites.

I currently work with recycled vinyl and patterned acrylic, to produce jewellery which is not only sustainable but meaningful too.
