Name: Taneesha Frederick (AKA Nene Shantay)

Age: 24
Height: 5’7.5

Where were you born? Born in Bronx, NY and raised in Georgia.
Ethnicity: Jamaican-American
Zodiac Sign: Taurus
Favorite things: I enjoy traveling, aromatherapy, and learning new things.
What music are you listening to at the moment? I love R&B music and of course my dancehall and reggae vibes. Some of my favorite artists include J Cole, SZA, Drake, and Popcaan.
Favorite movie, tv show: Black Panther stole my heart away; it’s the best movie I’ve ever seen thus far. Also, Incredibles 2, definitely worth the wait. Currently, my favorite TV show is The 100.
Favorite designer, fragrance or grooming/beauty product: FENTY, FENTY, FENTY! Whether it’s clothing, shoes, fragrance, or a beauty product, Rihanna has me covered. I’m able to be unique, sexy and comfortable at the same time.
What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling? If I weren’t modeling, I’d probably be in a higher position at a Digital Marketing agency. My mother encouraged me to obtain my bachelor’s degree before pursuing modeling just in case it didn’t work out. I majored in business because marketing has a lot to do with modeling when it comes to networking and representing a brand. I’ve been able to balance modeling while also trying to have a career in the marketing field.
What’s something uncool that you love anyway? I’ve been playing the Sims since it came out back in 2000. It’s now 2018, and I could stay up all night playing that game and forget about reality.
What’s the best thing about your hometown/country? The best part of New York is the cultural diversity. Immigrants come from all over the world and are willing to live together to learn about one another and pursue their individual dreams.
Place you would love to visit: I’ve traveled to many, but my ultimate goal is to visit EVERY single one of the Caribbean islands. There’s so much history to learn, and it’s so beautiful.
Which brand would you love to model? There are so many brands I’d be honored to model for like Adidas, Fenty x Rihanna, Versace, and Victoria Secret to name a few.
Favorite modeling experience so far? My favorite modeling experience so far is having the opportunity to work with different creatives and seeing our work come together so perfectly.
Favorite season? My favorite season is the end of Summer, around September, because it’s not too hot and not too cold, so it’s easy to put together a sexy yet comfortable outfit.
Favorite junk food? I love red velvet cake. I buy a slice every day for my midnight snack.
Where do you feel the most stuck in your modeling career? I think I’m stuck when it comes to finding an agency that believes in me and will help me get booked and cast for major fashion campaigns. My mother agency has been AMAZING when it comes down to my development and getting me appointments with major agencies but so far, no luck. I’ll never give up and will continue adding to my portfolio until it’s my time to break the industry.
Currently, you’re obsessed with or about? I’m obsessed with learning about my genealogy. I recently took a DNA test with Ancestry.com, and the results have me eager to learn about my ancestors.
3 Words that best describe you as a person? Open-minded. Reliable. Creative.
Favorite entertainer or public personality? Rihanna, I love how real she is. She gives off positive vibes, and I think we’d have a great connection. It’s a Caribbean ting.
Your favorite quote? “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.”
Any shoutouts? First, I want to give a shout out to my mother and my beloved sisters down in Georgia who have always shown me unconditional love and support in everything I do. Of course, my mother agency @dollhousemgmt for helping me in my development and trying to get me signed. Lastly, thank you OBVIOUS Magazine for this feature and giving aspiring models and other creatives some exposure in this industry.
