Name: Megan Kimberling

Agency, if any: Unsigned and Unbothered

Age: Real age or age people assume I am? *winky face*

Height: 5’8″

Instagram: @megankimberling

Where were you born? Pullman, Washington; the east side of the state, where Washington State University is.

Ethnicity: White

Zodiac Sign: Leo with Virgo Tendencies – I’m a cusp.

Favorite things: Currently, Jazz, True Crime podcasts, mini cupcakes, weed, recreating my parents looks from the 70s/80s, pictures of my nephew.

What music are you listening to at the moment? Jazz. Always jazz. Right now, some of my favorites are Braxton Cook, Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Natasha Agrama, Robert Glasper, Jamison Ross, and Josh Nelson.

Favorite movie, tv show: Film and TV hold a special place in my heart after music, so this is a tough question. I can forever watch ‘Accepted’ and ‘Remember The Titans’. I also can watch ‘Dexter’, ‘That 70s Show’, and ‘Arrested Development’ on repeat.

Favorite designer, fragrance or grooming/beauty product: Designer: Teuta Matoshi Duriqi (formal gowns that are incredibly stunning). Fragrance: Leo by Zodica Perfumery (small batch, organic, vegan, cruelty-free fragrance by Kristi Moe).

Grooming/Beauty Product: Deadwood Exfoliating Cleansing Cream with Activate Charcoal from AmorousApothecary (cruelty-free, small batch, WOC owned on Etsy)

What would you be doing if you weren’t modeling? I have a day job – I am a product developer for a small design firm in LA. I email factories every day and follow projects from the design phase through to the “It’s Shipped!” phase for customers in the theme park industry and pet products industry. I work with items from human apparel to dog toys to keychains. BUT, my dream is to open a Jazz club.

What’s something uncool that you love anyway? To most people, all of my interests. But, to be more specific, I enjoy reading Sci-fi novels, crafting, researching people and places, classical and jazz music, and making mood boards for my shoots.

What’s the best thing about your hometown/country? HA! Trick question because I was never a fan of my hometown. I do have to say that being from the middle of nowhere allowed my family to have horses, and all of my great childhood memories were on horseback.

Place you would love to visit: Europe, more specifically Germany, Austria, and Italy for the music history.

Which brand would you love to model? Alexander McQueen, but while he was alive. Currently, Vivienne Westwood.

Favorite modeling experience so far? So many! Every time I work with Graphic Metropolis (Irvin Riveria) something great happens.

Favorite season? Spring.

Favorite junk food? Chocolate (just about any kind), Skittles, Starbursts, 7-Eleven Glazed Donuts.

Where do you feel the most stuck in your modeling career? I have found that a lot of brands won’t hire me because I am unsigned/freelance. They see it as a liability because they don’t have the agency to fall back as far as legalities. It is frustrating because I know I am talented and have missed opportunities because brands won’t give me a chance. Just because I haven’t found the right agency for me doesn’t mean I don’t have the talent needed.

Currently, you’re obsessed with/about? Weed. I know it sounds weird, but I have anxiety and PTSD. About a year ago, I decided to try marijuana for medicinal purposes, and now my life is completely changed. I haven’t had to go back on anxiety meds, and I’m able to control what I use, how I use it, and when I use it. It’s been a lifesaver.

3 Words that best describe you as a person? Strong-willed. Intelligent. Compassionate.

Favorite entertainer or public personality? Right now it is definitely Joy Nash. She’s a badass.

Your favorite quote? “Other things may change us, but we start and end with family.”

Any shoutouts? Does a mom and dad shoutout count as a shoutout? For real though, I wouldn’t be where I am without having them as my parents. Also, my bestie Samantha Figueroa. She and I have grown together in this industry, and I am pretty sure neither of us could have done it without each other. It’s been a wild ride.
