Like many of you, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed our way of living, the way we view life as a whole. Many of us are taking advantage of social-distancing and utilizing free online courses to boost our skillsets, learn something new, or refresh what we already know.

My intention for sharing this information is to help people, like myself, on getting their power back during this pandemic, and help people who’ve dreamed of starting their own business or quitting their job(s) that no longer feed their souls.
All of us must be armed and ready to go once we gain some sense of normalcy. There will be a lot of brands and companies that will provide stay-at-home opportunities, no matter where you live in the world.
Currently, millions of people are unemployed in the United States (I believe this number is more likely at 30+ million), and these statistics are alarming!
According to @businessrightnow, in a few weeks (or months), 97% of people will go back to the way things were:
- Complaining about their job.
- Bad spending habits.
- Not preparing for the future.
3% will come back stronger:
- A newly learned skillset
- Started a side hustle or business
- Invested in their future

I recently saw a video by Nas Daily (Nuseir Yassina, Global Social Media Influencer) who produces compelling and informative videos once a week. His must-see video entitled, “WHY I HATE FREE!” changed how I value things given to me for free.
In the video, he talked about how we value things that cost us money, i.e., a $3,000 Gucci bag but put little to no value on stuff that doesn’t cost us anything. He’s correct!
Websites: Free Online Courses
I’ve used both of these online websites. Some of these apps offer a free 30-60 day trial, and I’m only recommending the platforms I’ve used. It’s worth your time and investment because it’s no cost to you.
Take advantage of these offers. A lot of people are not making any income and have limited financial resources. If you find opportunities to learn something new for free, do it.
LINKEDIN LEARNING
Linkedin Learning has thousands of courses. When you signup, you will be asked what categories interest you. Make a list before you submit then add them. List things that you love or topics that have piqued your curiosity, but you never tried it. Once you complete each course, your certification will post on your LinkedIn profile.

SKILLSHARE
I’m a creative person at heart. SKILLSHARE offers unlimited course skillsets excellent for creatives to include photographers, content creators, podcasters, screenwriters, video editors, starting a new business, and more. Both options are worth signing up for the free trial.

I love Scribd. I was tired of the restrictions at Audible and wanted to use an app that offered unlimited access to their entire platform. Though Scribd doesn’t have a lot of the trending books when they are released, there are thousands of great options to choose from.

Closing
Though there’s a lot of uncertainty, don’t succumb to all of the noise from the media. Utilize this time to boost your mindset and expertise. As I discover more free online courses, I’ll update this post.
Once you complete your courses, creating extra income is key for your side hustle. It’s working for me and I feel more empowered.
