Today, as part of New York Men’s Day at Industria Studios, Chapter presented its Spring/Summer 2017 collection, DISCORD, featuring 18 looks for men and two looks interpreted on the female form. The brand, in its eighth season, is the brainchild of Frank Delgadillo brought to life by a collective of modern minds, including creative director Devin Carlson and his design team in Southern California.
About the collection
Chapter’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection, DISCORD, looks at the juxtaposition of a city’s harsh architectural lines intersecting with the spirit of socialization and human interaction. Where form and disarray meet in a place of balance and harmony.Inspired by 90s culture and the cinematography of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, in particular, the collection brings this concept to life through the use of unorthodox, structured silhouettes counterbalanced by soft, malleable details such as embroidery, raw detailing, washing and printing. The silhouettes represent an evolution of Chapter’s staple pieces that are more refined but still very much in the vein of past collections. Pants with a slightly wider leg opening top featuring new linen blends, and the introduction of mustard as a key addition to the seasonal color palette.
About the presentation
Chapter’s NYFW presentation explored a minimal approach to 90s subculture through a stripped-down set that evoked emotion through its dramatic use of light and nominal foliage. The presentation’s soundtrack was composed by a live classical string duo, Kang, and Andrei Matorin.
About Chapter
Founded in 2013, Chapter is a men’s contemporary collection that is rooted in simplicity, modernism, and function. The brand seeks to bring a highly sophisticated point of view to men’s fashion silhouettes and accessories, working within a spectrum of creative design that lends itself to today’s modern, international lifestyle. The pieces are designed with impeccable style and quality in mind and each one offers a unique approach to a classic men’s piece – the t-shirt, the pant, the knit, the jacket. The line is designed to evoke a sense of vastness and immensity. The color palette is subtle and muted. The fit is tailored for comfort and ease of movement. The styling is understated yet impactful. It tells a story with a whisper. It evokes a sense of confidence and innate style that is highly personal and profound.
