Edwing D’Angelo Awakening

We had the opportunity and privilege to attend the Edwing D’Angelo‘s Women and Men 2012 Presentation on September 12, 2011, during New York Fashion Week and I must say it left us breathless! We were expecting his usual elaborate gowns and grand runway show production, however, this was a very intimate event hosted at the Red Bull Loft in Soho.

The Women’s Collection paid homage to the 1940s and 1950s with a touch of European royalty, using amazing shades of blue and gray fabrics with a modern day twist. Each piece was wearable and will appeal to the everyday woman.
The Men’s Collection was superb! The linens and cuts on the trousers were immaculate! I loved the double-breasted and single-breasted vests, tunics and checkered shirts. Mr. D’Angelo definitely gave us the ‘Clark Kent’ look of today.

I’ve watched the growth of Edwing D’Angelo‘s career over the last few years and must say both collections have moved him even higher with the power players of fashion (Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, John Varvatos to name a few). I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
