Increase Your Value: Aisha Nailah
Derrick Smith: How important is giving back to the community to you?
Aisha Nailah: Giving back to the community is EXTREMELY important to me. I’ve always been involved in community service from the time I was about 6 years old. It was something that was instilled in me by my mother and as I grew up and watched her give back it became natural. I believe that we all fulfill an important role within our community no matter our status or how much money we have.
DS: How will you take your company Nailahism to the next level?
AN: Nailahism is all about successful actions. I refer to my practice as peace, love, soul, PR. We gain peace from knowing. During the consultation, I do what I like to call a PR road map. I sit and map out a person’s path to their ultimate goal. I really get to know a client’s work down to the very root of its existence and then I help to develop their brand in alignment with what they envision achieving.
DS: If you could be successful or wealthy helping others which would you choose?
AN: I would choose being successful helping others over material wealth because being successful is doing what I love as a means to help others. I love working within the communications industry first and foremost because I find joy in helping to steer someone’s career and assisting them in becoming successful.
DS: What’s the most important move you’ve made on a Monday?
AN: I would have to say that the most important move that I’ve made on a Monday was meeting a young man who came from a rough past and decided he wanted to turn his life around by motivating others through sharing his story. He didn’t know where to begin so I volunteered to help him come up with a clear cut plan which included a social networking plan, speech training, and connected him to a few others who could assist him in accomplishing his goal. That’s one thing that truly stands out in my mind. To this day when he thanks me he still move me to tears.
DS: What’s something you’re looking to do more of in 2011 that you haven’t done in 2010?
AN: In 2011, I’m looking forward to networking more with my fellow PR professionals and building strong outsourcing relationships with those whose services can be useful to me for the benefit of my business and my clients. Outside of Public Relations but staying within the communications field, I would like to get back into freelance writing for print and online publications and do more public speaking.
