[Video] Milan Christopher talk LGBT Domestic Violence and Suicide

Milan Christopher uses his platform to bring awareness to domestic violence in the LGBT community that affects gays between the ages of 14-22 with his new music video, “When I go ft Papi Chuloh”. The former Love and Hip-Hop star talk with OBVIOUS about the message and conversation he wants to start about such a taboo subject.

Interview

Very powerful video. What made you tackle such a taboo topic and have you ever been a victim of domestic violence?

Having suffered from a relationship with domestic violence amongst other things made me have to address that particular subject. & finding out that Lgbt teens had the highest rates of suicide in the country it was a no brainer. everyone with a voice should use it to help others

What do you hope to gain from the video?

I don’t expect to gain anything but bring awareness to a group of individuals that aren’t seen or heard and hopefully, help anyone facing the same situation!

Why do you think domestic violence amongst the LGBT community (especially gay men) doesn’t get similar media coverage as heterosexual women?

I don’t know the answer to that. I would think it’s because homosexuality is still a very taboo subject in our culture and people tend not to accept men being capable of being abused.

Tell us about your upcoming projects?

I’m very busy. Right now I just completed my debut album #TheAlpha and still working on the visuals for the other songs on this album. I also have a new show I’m working on, club tours and lots of performances.
