Contestant #30: Dikembe Pride was asked to submit a personal video and answer key questions along with his submission to allow us to see his human side.
How has this competition affected you in a positive way?
The competition has affected me in multiple ways; all positive. I gained more self-confidence in my hope of becoming a model. It has motivated me to continue to strive for anything you desire because you never know what blessings may be sent your way. I always get discouraged and shut down when I feel like incompetent but I did not fail myself this time.
When was the last time you helped someone in need?
The last time I helped someone in need was less than a month ago. One of my friends from high school became homeless and developed a problem with drugs. He kept getting put out from wherever he was staying and needed somewhere to go. I let him stay at my house for over two weeks until he found somewhere to go and I helped change his outlook on himself motivating him to job hunt. Within a week he found a job and moved in with his grandmother and is also in a rehab program.
How do you handle public scrutiny?
I don’t think I’ve ever really had to handle public scrutiny. I generally don’t care what anyone thinks of me or has to say about me because they don’t know me. Its to the point where I don’t even pay attention to negativity or positivity.
What makes a model a model?
What makes a model a model is someone who exudes confidence and is attractive to people internally and externally. Someone who can evoke some type of emotion with their appearance and their vibe; someone who is more of a role model than just a model.
What makes YOU a model?
I someone that people may find attractive or handsome, but I am more complimented on my mindset than my looks. People look up to me for advice and respect my opinion because they know that I always have something relevant and helpful to add. I may not be famous but some people may already consider me a model/role model on a smaller scale.
What are your Top 3 Dream jobs/campaigns you would like to book and why?
1. I would like to work Human Resources or behind the scenes for a major TV station, magazine, or brand where I am able to connect with the community and make an intimate impact on people in a social atmosphere.
2. I would love to be signed to an agency and eventually become an actor because I like to do different things and have fun. I can’t see myself behind a desk and computer screen 8 hours a day for the rest of my life. I like to be proactive and interacting.
3. The last thing I would like to do is not relate to modeling or fashion butI would like to buy and sell property because I am fascinated with different homes and architecture all over the world. I’m the type that likes to rearrange and be in different settings very often.
What’s your FAVORITE quote?
“Excuses are tools of the incompetent that build monuments of nothingness”. This is one of my favorite quotes because it applies to everything you do in life. There is no need to ever make and excuse because when you do that just means you didn’t do something you were supposed to do. Making an excuse doesn’t fix anything it just piles up and does nothing. Instead of making excuses, fix it or stop doing things where you may need to make an excuse.
Favorite food?
I simply love soul food. There is nothing like Thanksgiving food or Sunday dinner food; the food I grew up on. Macaroni and cheese, greens, chitterlings, all the southern comfort foods.
Dream place to travel?
Africa because I only know one half of my family and I want to trace my roots. And Australia to enjoy the beach, weather and also get to know more about to aboriginal tribes whose land was taken because we didn’t learn too much about them growing up.
Workout Regimen?
I should workout at least 3 times a week but I’m a little inconsistent with it. I workout in spurts. I’ll go consistently for a couple weeks and then not go again for about a month. Terrible!
Dikembe Pride. what’s your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram?
@easyonyoureyes on Twitter and Instagram.
Are there any people you would like to personally thank?
Not to kiss anyones a** but of course I would like to think Jerris and his team for choosing me to participate in this competition, giving me this opportunity, and helping me gin about 500 followers. I’d also like to think anybody involved in this production because I’m sure its been hectic; and of course my friends, family, followers, and #1 supporter God for helping me make it to this point in this competition and my life.
