5 Tips on Working Smarter, Not Harder

Information

With an outline in hand, your managers will need additional information on how best to complete the project. This may mean requiring some of your team members to work additional hours and for others to concentrate on getting certain tasks done.  You may find that it is more efficient to assign the project to one group and allow your remaining employees to take over day-to-day tasks. Or, it might be more beneficial if the project was divided to allow some workers to handle responsibilities for part of the day and the other employees to step up at another point in the day.

Delegation

Do you think that you will be overseeing a big project by yourself? Not a chance. Or at least it does not have to be that way. Assign different parts of the project to each manager. One manager may be in charge of acquiring the raw materials. Another manager may need to assemble human capital. A third manager might oversee the budget while a fourth manager could be assigned to quality control. Each manager will report to you on an “as needed” basis with the occasional meeting held to monitor progress.
